Zenaide Zeina has been performing Oriental dance since the late 1970's and was one of the most sought after dancers in NYC in the 1980's becoming a favorite at the Club Ibis, Darvish and all of the other Middle-Eastern mainstays of that era. Her experience as a performer and choreographer spans both US coasts and many other countries. Join Zenaide Zeina in an exploration of Amir Sofi's exquisite piece, Raksa. Zenaide is a trained Language of Dance (LOD) teacher who will guide you by exploring Egyptian technique and creating a choreography using LOD tools such as dynamics, relationship, space and body, to develop an individualized choreography. Bring a veil. Handouts will be provided.

Cabaret Karsilama with Layla!
An alumnus of Serena Studios/Serena Dance Theater, Layla has performed such prestigious venues as Lincoln Center, Riverside Church, Queens Central Library Concert Series, United Nations, and 92nd Street Y Harkness Center. She is known for her precision in technique, expert finger cymbals, and enthusiastic audience interaction. Currently Layla is an instructor at Serena Studios where she teaches the advanced/performance level. Visit her website at: www.bellydancingbylayla.com. The traditional ending to a Turkish style or American Cabaret style show, 9/8 is a unique rhythm particular to Turkey which is upbeat, fun, flirty, and fabulous! Join Layla as she presents 9/8 technique (skirts/hips/foot patterns) and finishes with a short choreography. Bring a full skirt - gypsy style or circle. Bring paper/pen for notes!
